Is an iPod update coming soon?
By Emily Price
Kevin Rose, the founder of Digg claims to have found out information about an upcoming update to Apple’s iPod line. Rose predicts the iPod line updates to reach Apple store shelves in the next few weeks.
The first update Kevin mentions is to the Ipod Nano. According to Rose the current square shaped Nano will be replaced with a longer, skinnier version. The Nano will have a rectangular widescreen screen, and the glass will be rounded on the outside.
Rose also claims that the iPod Touch will be upgraded. The new Touch with has a few cosmetic changes, but will also have the new 2.1 software for the iPod Touch and IPhone pre-installed. That software will then roll out to existing iPhone and iPod Touch customers.
Along with the IPhone and IPod Touch software update Rose says that iTunes 8.0 will also be released. The release he says is “worthy” of the 8.0 distinction and will have new features and functionality rather than just bug fixes.
Rose says that we’re going to see a price cut across the board for all of the IPod line so they can better compete with the now lower priced iPhone. Sales for the traditional iPods have reportedly been lower now that the IPhone is within the financial reach of many customers.
Rose also claimed to have exclusive information about the iPhone before it was released, and all of his “inside information” was proved false when the iPhone actually surfaced. (Rose claimed the iPhone would launch with CDMA and GSM version, would have a slide out keyboard and would have a pair of batteries). The claims Rose makes all seem logical, but then again he was wrong before.
See all of his claims in his own words in this YouTube video.
