Barack Obama sex tape shocker? – New trojan email doing rounds
Politics has always been a dirty game to be involved in, but the battle for the White House currently taking place between Barack Obama and John McCain has been the dirtiest seen for a while. Could it be that the Republicans have now even taken to distributing a sex tape of Barack Obama to raise McCain’s hopes of winning the election?
In a word, no. But there is an email currently doing the rounds which attempts to persuade recipients to open the attachment included by fooling them in to thinking it leads to a Barack Obama sex tape. It doesn’t of course, and instead just leads the unlucky, and foolish, recipient to a world of pain as their computer gets infected with a Trojan horse known as Mal/Hupig-D.
According to Yahoo News, news of this new trojan email comes from security firm Sophos, who warn anyone receiving an email with the subject line, “Obama sex video!!!”, from infonews@obama.com to leave well alone or risk opening their computer up to all sorts of tampering and the potential loss of sensitive data.
Clicking on the download link does indeed lead to porn, but rather than being the promised Obama sex tape, it’s just an amateur adult movie with the 2008 Presidential hopeful nowhere to be seen. So it’s not worth downloading, even if you’re desperate to see Obama in a compromising position.
This is unlikely to be the work of Republicans looking to cause embarrassment for the Obama campaign, as the email contains all the hallmarks of being just another dodgy spam email from a phisher somewhere in the ether.
What I find intriguing about this story is why Obama is being used as bait by the hackers. He may be a good looking guy but who would really want to see him having sex on tape? Even his biggest supporters would surely baulk at seeing him indulging in some bedroom activity. As would his detractors, surely.
The other astonishing thing is that these types of warnings still have to be issued when no-one can be ignorant of the fact that this is highly likely to be a phishing attempt rather than a kosher email. Are people still stupid enough to click any link contained in an unsolicited email?
There is no Barack Obama sex tape, so just leave this well alone. If you don’t, then you deserve what you have coming to you. Pervert.
