Renault Ondelios is a car travelers dream

By Susan Wilson

Renault Ondelios is a car travelers dream Americans have a fascination with large and luxury.  We want cars that will hold large families comfortably.  Renault has built a concept car that has me drooling over the interior amenities and environmental technology.

iGreenspot reported that the Ondelios has some of the most incredible interior features.  The passenger seats, all 5 of them, can be reclined like airplane seats, have footrests, and speakers in the headrests.  What an incredibly comfortable car to ride in.

Seats, headrests, and Samsung media players Each passenger has their own portable interactive Samsung media player that they can use to play games with each other or to share data.  Each passenger has their own climate control for the perfect riding/lounging experience.

The car has gull wing doors that open out and up exposing the large interior.  Both the front and second seats are easily accessible when the door is open.  To get to the third row of two (5 passengers, remember?), the second row of seats folds down and slides forward so that passengers can get in to the third row.

Dashboard The dashboard monitors the ride and the way the hybrid powertrain is working.  The doors have mirror cameras that display on a windshield screen.  The car comes with a Samsung phone that works like a remote door opener and inputs the preferences of the owner.

Renault has created a luxury riding experience enclosed in an ecologically friendly car.  The car body is made of carbon and some of the “structural parts” are made of flax fiber for easier recycling.  The car gets great gas mileage for its size “4.5 litres/100km” and CO2 emissions are a lowly 120g/km.

Renault OndeliosThe Ondelios has a “205hp (150kW) version of the 2.0 dCi diesel engine and two 20 kw electric engines”, one on the front and one on the back.  The electric motors work to give the car a boost and  the front electric motor uses “fuel-saving stop-start technology.”  Also included is regenerative braking. The lithium ion battery is recharged through the kinetic energy generated when the brakes are engaged.

I want this car.  Driving it might be fun, but I want to be one of those 5 passengers with all the comfort and gadgets!
