Top 5 Sarah Palin funny videos/spoofs

Love her or hate her, you have to admit that Sarah Palin has made the US presidential election a whole lot more interesting. The attractive, gun-touting, God-fearing governor of Alaska is just what the US needs, or doesn’t, depending on your political outlook.
There is at least one group of people for whom Palin is a God send, and that’s comedians and satirists, who have shown no mercy in highlighting her colourful personality and slips ups.
This has made Palin an online superstar, with videos featuring her, or about her, having been viewed millions of times.
What makes Palin such a target as Republican vice-presidential nominee is that she’s had such an interesting, unconventional life (well, for a politician that is). Here’s a quick overview of the highlights:
- Born Feb 11, 1964
- Won the 1984 Miss Wasilla beauty competition, and then finished third in the Miss Alaska pageant
- In the late 80s she worked as a sports reporter
- Elected to the to city council of Wasilla in 1992 and 1995
- Youngest person, and first female, to be elected as governor of Alaska
- First woman to run on the Republican party’s presidential ticket
- Lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA)
- Describes herself as a “hockey mom”
- And while she’s been doing all of that, she’s also managed to find time to have five children.
What’s also made her a target has been her performance in a number of media interviews, such as this interview with Katie Couric, where she talks about foreign policy, and this interview with Charles Gibson where she was asked about the “Bush Doctrine”. She was also asked by CBS about what newspapers she reads, and she provided an interesting answer.

Fey’s skit has attracted a lot of attention around the world, and I suspect it’s because there’s more than just an element of truth in the contrast between Palin’s andHilary Clinton’s political careers. As Shakespeare wrote, “many a truth a said in jest”.

In this skit Gershon portrays Palin as bikini-wearing, gun shooting maverick. One commenter said “I didn’t know Palin was that hot!”

Well you’ve seen what the satirists think. If all goes well with the McCain/Palin ticket, and to give Palin credit, she did do quite well in the recent vice-presidential nominee debate, satirists may soon have even more material to work with. Now, that’s a thought.

Apparently that would be a “hate”, since not a single video making your top 5 are pro Palin in any sense…

She did “well” in the debate because they weren’t able to be edited. I’m mixed in how I feel about her, it didn’t enhance the ticket for me . But the reaction by all the Hillary supporters who thought the main reason she was picked was to woo them is funny. She was to pander to the far right and steal momentum from Obama. A background in making people get over themselves was not part of the package.
