Prima Blackberry flip style case review
Looking for the right case for your Blackberry? Want to find the perfect blend of style and protection? Let’s see how Prima’s black leather flip style case fares in this hands on review.
I have been looking for the right case ever since I won my 8320 from BlackBerry Homepage. Since my BlackBerry was custom painted with the signature colors of BlackBerry Homepage, I wanted a case that would both protect and show off my unique Blackberry. Enter Prima Cases.
Over the last ten years, I have used a variety of cases for my devices. Neoprene, leather, hard plastic and microfiber. By far, my favorite case material is leather.
Blackberry 8300 curve Prima select premium leather flip style case is offered in one color, black. The inside of the case is lined with black felt to cradle your Blackberry in softness. The leather is smooth and supple, giving the case a very elegant feel.
Both the front and back of the case are padded for protection in case you accidentally drop it. Being a klutz, I especially look for cases that will protect my devices. This one provides excellent protection since I have dropped my Blackberry at least twice while in this case without damage to the phone or case.
The case has cutouts on the side for access to all of the buttons, speakers and plugs. Charging the phone or listening to music can be done easily, without ever removing the Blackberry from the case.
On the other hand, anyone who has ever owned a Blackberry knows that there are times when nothing will fix a problem but to remove the back of the Blackberry for a hard reset. Removing my blackberry was simple for required resets.
The case is form fitting without being overly tight. Both of the bottom corners are cut out so that it is easy to press up on a corner and remove your smartphone. The edge of the case extends beyond the Blackberry so that any drop that would land the case on its bottom or side edges would not damage the phone.
The inside of top of the case has a place for two mini SD cards and slots for two credit cards. Because of the way the case is made, the mini SD cards should not scratch the Blackberry screen unless undue pressure is put on the case.
The back of the case has a cutout for the camera so that pictures can be taken easily with the top flap open and held up. The cutout is large enough to be able to take self portraits in the miniature mirror below the camera lens.
One of the wonderful features of this case is the magnetic closure. When ever you close the case, the magnetic snap also puts the Blackberry to sleep. This helps prevent your battery from draining.
The flip style case is wonderful because it protects the screen and keyboard, preventing scratches and unexpected phone calls initiated by your pocket change.
You can get the case with or without a belt clip. The case is slim enough that it fits very easily in a pocket without any unsightly bulge.
My only criticism of the case is that the portion that surrounds the screen could be tighter. Since this case does not have any piece that connects the right and left halves of the case except at the top and bottom, it has a tendency to bulge around the screen.
Overall, the case is well made, elegant and priced affordably.
I would rate this case a 4.5 out of 5.
