Reason #1 - Vista was just so awful, and XP is just so old. Reason #2 the cost of the MS OS is so high when compared to alternatives - Linux, Mac OS - that people will want to 'try before they buy' .... People are now used to obtaining OS' for free(Linux), even though they may be limited in some areas of functionality that to pay $200+ for an OS is seen as simply idiotic.
