I chose these top 10 environmental resource sites more for their content than their name recognition. While some will be familiar, several of these are more niche-type sites that you may have missed. All of them contain great information on becoming green and staying that way.
- Environmental News Network (enn.com) is probably the foremost source of environmental information available. Their website is clean and visibly pleasing with a lot of available content including links to other sources. A must-visit Web site if the environment is of any interest to you.
- Environmental News Service (ens-news.com) provides a lot of news stories related to the environment with a good search function to find stories or topics you may be looking for.
- Pollution Online (polutiononline.com) contains reviews and articles pertaining to products that help reduce pollution. These tips are for both the consumer and for businesses looking for a way to lower their carbon footprint.
- Planet Ark (planetark.org) offers articles that tell you you to reduce day-to-day impact on the environment, at home, school, or on the job.
- The Earth Times (earthtimes.org) is a nice blog containing news, information and resources on the environment and other resources.
- Capital Reports Environmental News Link (caprep.com) provides information on government related resources, legislation, and information.
- National Resources Defense Council (nrdc.org) focuses on saving wildlife and wild places, their website is very interactive and nicely done.
- MSNBC U.S. News of the Environment (msnbc.msn.com/id/3032493). MSNBC’s Environmental blog with videos, tips, and lots of information about becoming more “green.”
- National Geographic Environmental News (news.nationalgeographic.com/news/environmental.html) is a wonderful daily blog filled with stunning photography and video while covering news of importance to environmentalists.
- Environmental Science & Technology Blog (pubs.acs.org/journal/esthag/index_news.html) is written with more emphasis on the scientific side of environmentalism, this wonderful blog is chock full of news that doesn’t necessarily hit the major news broadcasts.
Becoming green has become so popular that Web sites devoted to it have popped up all over the place. Please feel free to share your favorite sites in the comments.
