Flip Mino goes HD

November 12, 2008

flip_mino_hd For the last two years, the Flip Mino has been skyrocketing in popularity in the otherwise lackluster camcorder market. Now Pure Digital has unleashed an HD version of the Flip Mino to let users easily capture their memories in a high-quality format.

The Flip’s surging popularity can be attributed to its simplicity in terms of use and ability to easily upload to major video sites such as MySpace and YouTube. In addition to its elegant simplicity, the Flip is affordable with the standard Flip Video coming in at only $129.99.

The Flip Mino is the flagship of Pure Digital’s standard camcorder, well publicized for its bevy of customization option. The Flip Mino HD doubles the memory of the standard version to 4 GB in order to accommodate up to an hour of recording in 720P.

The HD Mino doesn’t radically break Pure Digital’s ridiculously reasonable pricing model either. The HD model costs $229.99, providing the highest quality video for just $50 more than the Flip. That’s a lot of value for a device that the company boasts is, “the world’s smallest HD camcorder.”

Delivering these innovative offerings and strong value for consumers has caused Pure Digital to grow at an astounding rate. The 90-person company has grown as much as 44,667 percent in the last few years based on the Flip camcorder line alone.

The release of the Flip Mino HD will introduce the product line to an entirely new set of customers. After just a few years, Pure Digital is taking aim at higher end home video cameras with a high-quality and simple to use device.

Now the company has made a serious bet on being able to impress fickle videophiles with a device that is designed to include minimal extraneous features. If Pure Digital can win that bet, it just might become a dominant player across the camcorder market.

I’d wait a few days as there seems to be a better pocket HD recorder out there. See these videos:

Could that be the new Vado from Creative, any news about that?
