Devmir, Inc. holds “sock-a-thon” to benefit Sierra Club and homeless

By Susan Wilson

Devmir, Inc. holds "sock-a-thon" to benefit Sierra club and homeless The new name brand to wear will be Sierra Club Socks.  With each pair purchased, a pair will be donated to the homeless and 10 percent of the purchase price will be donated to the Sierra Club.

The socks are actually made by Devmir in the Dominican Republic.  Devmir’s tag line is “socks with purpose.”  Besides the Buy One Give One (BOGO) socks that it will be manufacturing for the Sierra Club, Devmir also produces specialty socks for diabetics, golfers and those who need anti-bacterial socks.

The socks that will be manufactured for the Sierra club Sock logo, are made from organic cotton or bamboo.  Bamboo is incredibly soft and “gentle”.

The socks come in a variety of styles for both women and men.  All of the performance socks are made of organic cotton.  Select versions of the dress casual socks are made from bamboo.

The Sierra Club has pledged to continue the BOGO sock-a-thon until one million socks have been donated to the homeless.  Don’t worry.  No one will be going out of business through this sock campaign.

The socks being sold are not cheap.  Crew socks (both organic cotton and bamboo) run around $10.99 a pair.  The shorties run around $4.99 – $8.99, and the footies $8.99.  If you think about the fact that you are actually buying two pairs of socks (one for you and one for the homeless), the price isn’t that bad.

If you are looking for an easy way to feel good this holiday season, buy a pair of socks for Dad or Mom and feel the warm glow knowing that a second pair is going to a homeless person.

Better yet, buy a combo gift for your brother or sister and buy a pair of Sierra Club Socks and a SunNight Solar flashlight.  Both have BOGO promotions going on right now.  You will be giving a second pair of socks to the homeless and a solar flashlight to one of 76 different groups who need a flashlight for basic light and safety.
