Search seven sites at once with Soovle

By Emily Price

When you’re doing a Web search, sometimes simply using Google or Yahoo! doesn’t quite cut it and you have to go to several different sites and perform your search in order to find exactly what you were looking for. The site Soovie is designed to make that process a little easier by searching seven different sites simultaneously for what you’re looking for.

The site automatically searches Wikipedia, Google, Amazon, Yahoo!, Ask.com, YouTube, and Answers.com when you start typing a term in the search box. Once you start typing the site offers suggestions from all seven sites on what you might possibly looking for.

This isn’t really the place to go if you know exactly what you’re looking for. If you want to buy the new Killers CD you should probably head to Amazon directly, and if you want to see some crazy Internet video you heard about then you should probably check out YouTube first.

Soovle is instead dedicated to helping those of us that know we’re looking for something…we’re just not exactly sure what that something is right this second. The idea is that the suggested search terms from all the associated websites will help jar your memory, and help you find what you were looking for.

The idea behind the site is pretty cool, and the site has quite a bit of really great functionality built into it. I highly recommend giving it a try for your next Web search. While I think it might overall take a little getting used to, the fact that you can hit seven sites at once makes it an excellent contender for my browser homepage.

I’m personally perplexed by the inclusion of Answers.com in their site selections. I can’t think of a single time I’ve used that site…for anything. What about you? What sites do you think are unnecessary or what sites would you like to see Soovle add to their searches?
