Aptera Typ-1 becomes the refined Aptera 2e
By Susan Wilson
As Aptera inches closer to production, more information about the final design is being released including the change in name.
Aptera is that plucky little car company out of California that got a massive infusion of cash from Google. Previously, Blorge has reported on some of the safety features of the car as well as, its 230 mpg abilities.
Now more features of the Aptera have come to light showcasing the interior environment. The seats and carpets are made from recycled plastic bottles adding to the green value of the car. The seats will accommodate passengers ranging in height from 5-feet-nothing to 6-feet-plus.
Further interior features include two center console cup holders that should provide room for a wide range of cup sizes. Also on the center console is a “Smart Phone Connector” that allows you to plug in your iPhone or other smart phone and receive or make calls as well as play music through the cars stereo system.

The passenger seat folds down so that you can expand the already extensive cargo space to hold larger loads. For example, a six foot surfboard along with wet suit, wax and other gear. Without the seat down, you can pack 15 bags of groceries in the cargo area and to keep them from rolling around, a cargo net is included.

The roof top solar panels help keep the interior comfy so that when you come back to your car from sleeping, shopping or surfing you will find it to be the perfect temperature as set by your climate control settings.

Efficiency Meter
The car even has an efficiency meter. The efficiency meter monitors energy use. By paying attention to the efficiency meter, you can begin to modify your driving so that you use less energy.
Finally, the car has a “rear vision system”. Along with the two aerodynamic side mirrors, the car has a rear camera mounted in a fin on the roof that projects the view of what is behind you on a central screen in front of you. That way you can be sure what is around you at all times.
For a little three-wheeler, this car has quite a lot of technology and refinement built in.

Interesting reading. I didn’t realize Google had gotten involved with Aptera.
