TECH.BLORGE updates: Super Bowl porn, snow, spam and marching bands Here are a few updates on some stories we’ve recently featured on our TECH channel:

* Comcast has announced that viewers in Tucson who were upset at seeing a brief glimpse of a pornographic film during the Super Bowl can call 888-315-8219 to get a $10 credit on their account as compensation. That’s certainly quite the deal considering Comcast normally charges viewers extra to see the channel which was mistakenly broadcast.

* While debate rages about the response of British authorities to this week’s snow outbreaks, one Twitter user has found a way to harness the power of the social network to keep track of the downfalls. You can take part by posting a Tweet that begins #uksnow, then has the first half of your postcode and a rating of the snow out of 10 (for example, #uksnow M13 4/10). The results then appear on the map at http://www.benmarsh.co.uk/snow/. If you’ve uploaded a photo using twitpic, you can add the url at the end of your tweet.

* Google may be expanding its mapping services under the oceans and onto Mars, but the strangest views still appear on the Earth’s surface. The Washington Post has noted a street view of an alleyway in Pittsburgh with an unlikely image. It turns out it’s the work of locals who’d discovered the Google vehicle used for capturing street view images would be in the area and reached a deal with the firm to liven up the shot.

* Speaking of Google, the firm has admitted that Saturday’s debacle where its search engine labelled every site on the Internet as a potential malware risk also affected some e-mails. The firm uses the same filters that caused the search problem for some of its spam filtering, meaning some legitimate e-mails may have been misfiled. Google is automatically returning the affected messages to inboxes, but notes that customers who haven’t received an expected e-mail should check their spam folder just in case.
