Edit Google Spreadsheets on your iPhone

By Emily Price

Up until now you were only able to read Google spreadsheets using Google’s mobile interface, now the company has added the ability for users to edit their spreadsheets while they’re on the go. The newest version allows you to add rows, sort columns, edit a row that already exists, and filter the columns by value.

The spreadsheets are editable on the iPhone, T-Mobile G1 and Nokia S60 phones, so if you’re currently rocking one of those, then you can now edit on the go.Most of us these days seem to be on the go more often than we are by our desktops, being able to edit your spreadsheets while you sitting in a bus terminal, or in the middle of a lunch meeting could be fantastic.

I know for most of the things I do typically on a computer: Facebook, update calendars, and send emails, my iPhone can handle all of those tasks. I do have to sit down at a PC for things like blogging, or sending exceptionally lengthy correspondence, but I could probably do all those things from my phone if push came to shove and I “needed” to.

What sorts of things do you do on your phone? What tasks do you save until your by your actual computer to complete? Would you ever want to see those applications brought to a mobile phone interface?

Quite a few applications we typically use on our desktops have started to have mobile interfaces as well that are just as functional, if not more functional than their desktop counterparts.

We are very quickly turning into a society where we could almost just carry around our iPhone (or G1) and be able to function just as well as if we were carrying around a laptop computer.

If you’re a Google Spreadsheet user, then this is a huge upgrade.
