Twitter launches Twitter trends and search
By Emily Price
Up until now if you wanted to see what was trending on Twitter, or search through tweets on the site to find something, you would have to go to another external Web site to do so. Now Twitter has started bringing all the greatness of search.twitter.com to the Twitter homepage. The site started rolling out a new “Trends” and “Search” feature on the homepage last week, with plans to bring it to all Twitter profiles soon.
The integration of search to the actual Twitter homepage has been in the works for a while now. Having users have to go to another site to search just doesn’t make much sense. Having the option to search through trending topics is actually a really cool feature to add on-site as well. That way when you login to Twitter you can immediately check out what most of the world (or the world on twitter at least) is talking about.
I’ve been on Twitter for a little over two years now (as you can probably tell by my username @Emily). I can remember when I looked at Twitter for the first time thinking there was no way the site was ever going to take off- it’s impressive to look at it now and see all the new features, applications to work with it, and especially all the new people and organizations that are coming to the site.
As I type this the current big trends on Twitter are Phish, and Texas. Amazingly enough #8 is Harry Potter, with no book or movie coming out in the exceptional near future that’s certainly a weird anomaly. Apparently (I learned after clicking on the link) there’s a Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family right now.
I can tell the trends tab is about to soak up a pretty substantial amount of my days. Have any of you tried out search or trends on Twitter? What sorts of features would you like to see the site add in the future?

It is being rolled out slowly to Twitter users. I have the option now just on my regular Twitter page-it should be making its way to everyone soon.
