Good Lord, Google develops a operating system and it is news.

Linux has been around for ages, it is free for anyone and it is available now. Linux is resistant against spyware, malware and viruses .

It doesn't slow down after a couple of days like Windows, there are thousand upon thousand of free applications and utilities just for the asking.

With Linux, you can still watch your You Tube videos, do e-mails, listen to your MP3's , load up your MP3 player.

With Linux there is no expensive anti-virus programs to buy, no expensive "upgrades" and no expensive "word" programs.

Yes I am happy that Google came out with their own operating system and wants a crack at Microsoft.

But Linux has been doing that already and has millions of loyal users all over the world.... I am one of them.

I doubt there's too much moisture if " most of the user experience takes place on the web."

That makes it primarily a consumer item and I'm guessing primarily aimed at Netbooks. Microsoft isn't going to really sweat until they see a threat to their server product. Google Apps isn't it and IT Directors get pretty nervous about leaving data on remote servers they don't control.

Gmail and Google calender and collaboration offerings should have already replaced a big chunk of Exchange servers by virtue of not having to maintain and keep the App up to date and a built in disaster recovery function.

It hasn't seen much adoption at an annual license of $50 per seat.

"[...] Google has finally announced that it is launching its own operating system. [...] Google will make the Chrome OS open source [...] in the second half of 2010 the new operating system will also make its way on to netbooks [...]"

Can you hear that trickling sound? That's Microsoft's senior management wetting themselves.
