8 yrs of using the highest political offices in the USA is responsible for this.

We know (cos it has since been admitted) that people like Philip Cooney changed, edited and reworded litterally hundreds of official documents to down-play and strick out evidence that glaciers were retreating and inserted phrases suggesting that there was serious scientific doubt about global warming on behalf of the Bush big oil cabal.

We also now know that Scientists at the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and the US Fish and Wildlife Service were forbidden to speak to the media; James Hansen at Nasa was told by public relations officials that there would be "dire consequences" if he continued to call for big cuts in greenhouse gases.

No wonder people in the USA have yet to wake up to what is going on.

Since China and India have refused to take any action equal to what the US is being asked to do, it's all fine and dandy to say what ever they want.

Denial is acting like legislation that is going to be very disruptive and harmful to the US economically while the two fastest expanding economies will continue to dump emissions exponentially and unchecked is an unreasonable position.

Climate Change science is still in it's infancy. The causes and our ability to change it isn't the dead solid certainty many of the more militant folks say it is.
