Twitter to finally make money with commercial accounts
At long last the guessing game can end as Twitter has finally announced how it plans to make at least some money.
It has become a favorite guessing game of every one in the tech blogosphere: how is Twitter going to make money? We all ponder it, we’ve all stared in to a crystal ball, and some of us have even pulled out the Ouija board to consult the spirits, but no one knew for sure how, or when, it was going to happen.
Well, all of the speculation can end, and the companies and people who have invested $55 million in the microblogging platform can finally sleep easy because Twitter is going to start charging for commercial accounts that want more features.
Yeah, don’t worry, you aren’t the only one who can’t figure out how this will possibly make enough money.
According to an interview with co-founder Biz Stone on VentureBeat, Twitter will continue to be free to anyone who wants to use it, including commercial entities, but if you want fancy tools like analytics to see just how much your messages are being read, that will cost you. Essentially the company wants to release special tools and APIs that will cater just to the businesses that have started using the platform to promote themselves. Of course, if someone is a power user, they may want these tools also, but that can be said for certain.
Twitter also plans to start verifying business accounts just like they have with certain celebrities so you know if an account says its being run by a company like Dell, that it really is a Dell represenative at the keyboard.
This is a start on the path to making money for Twitter, but will it even put a dent in what the company has spent yet? That seems somewhat doubtful, but every journey has to start somewhere, might as well be with with analytics.

Cant they just put Google Adsense there? With a great number of traffic and users, I don’t see why advertising is bad for Twitter.
