Guy threatens to shoot own iPhone at an Apple Store
By Dave Parrack
Technology can be the most amazing thing in the world, at least when it’s working as it should be. Unfortunately, it also has a tendency to go wrong, and top stop doing what you want it to at times. Solutions include buying a replacement, getting the broken gadget repaired, and threatening to shoot it with a gun. At least that’s what one guy thought was the right thing to do with his iPhone at an Apple Store when it stopped working properly.
I’m a huge fan of technology but when something breaks I’m terrible at fixing it or working out what could be wrong. So I tend to leave it to the professionals or people more intelligent than me (my girlfriend). But before considering what to do to fix the broken piece of technology there is that moment when frustration builds up and you want to take it out on the device in question.
According to WCPO, 38-year-old Donald Goodrich got so frustrated with his iPhone when it ceased to work properly that he took extraordinary lengths to get something done about it.
Goodrich allegedly went to the Kenwood Towne Center Apple Store in Cincinnati to have a Genius Bar employee help him with the iPhone. He then told the employee he was, “So mad, I could pop a 9mm at it.” A hollow threat maybe but Goodrich then said, “I’ll do it right now. Look!” before opening his shirt to reveal a 9mm handgun.
The female employee stayed calm, told Goodrich she’d get his iPhone fixed for him, then told her manager about the incident. She, quite rightly, called the police. Although Goodrich does hold a concealed weapon permit, he was arrested and has been charged with aggravated menacing, and causing fear of harm to an Apple employee.
Not being a fan of Apple and its products, I can understand Goodrich’s desire to shoot a big hole in his iPhone, especially as it had stopped working as it should be. But flashing your weapon at a female Apple Store employee while threatening to do just that? Well that’s taking things a little too far in my opinion.
At least Americans have the chance to shoot their broken technology to ease the frustration felt when something goes wrong. Those of us who live in countries with tougher gun laws have to resort to stamping on it, putting a foot through it, or chucking it in the river. Which just isn’t as sexy.

Hahaha what a total idiot. I think he was trying to impress the chick. He was stupid enough to think she would be aroused by seeing his 9mm, but instead he proves he is a total creep.
I hope the police through the book at him. Dummies like him need to be locked up for being stupid.
The smart gun owners in the US, we go to backwood locations, alone, to shoot up our POS gadgets…

What is it with trigger happy Americans?. Guns are not a solution to a problem.
Next time if a gadget pisses you off so much, please smash it with a hammer or something in the privacy of your house.
Thankfully gun laws here in Australia don’t allow people to wander the streets willy nilly with guns.

guess that’s an entirely new page in the US Penal Code: “Causing fear of harm to an Apple employee!”
I wonder if “Causing fear of harm to an Apple employee” will be punished harder than “Causing fear of harm to a Microsoft employee!”?
