Google launches new Music Search service

By Sean P. Aune

Google launches new Music Search serviceGoogle has officially launched a new music component to its search engine which should make it possible for you to find just about any song you want, even if you only know a few of the lyrics.

We reported just last week that Google was working on some sort of music application, but what exactly it was going to be was pretty unclear at the time.  The service has now officially been unveiled and it is a new service inside of search called Google Music Search.

Partnered up with Lulu and MySpace , you will now find song samples you can listen to any time you search for music on Google.  Both companies will also provide links to places where you can buy the songs or albums.

This isn’t the only step Google has taken towards making its search results more friendly to music fans. Now when you search on a band or song you will also receive suggestions for other music you might like powered by Pandora, imeem and Rhapsody.

The new features will be rolled out across the United States over the next day, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see it immediately.
