Wife entraps pedophile husband by posing online as an underage girl
An enraged wife entrapped her pedophile husband online by posing as an underage girl. She ended up reporting her husband to the authorities after she collected evidence against him. The wife conducted a Dateline-like entrapment scheme using a chat room online.
The online world can be a dangerous place for young children, especially with pedophiles lurking in every corner. The TV program Dateline specializes in entrapping child predators soliciting sexual relations with minors using Internet chat rooms. The show has adults posing as underage minors surfing the chat rooms looking for pedophiles.
It seems like this show has inspired others to do a similar type of sleuthing as well. According to CNET, a 61-year-old woman from Wales did exactly that. She found a message on her home computer sent between her husband and an underage girl that was of sexual nature.
The wife decided to jump online using a different computer at home pretending to be a underage girl. She found the same chat room her husband was in and starting chatting with him. Apparently, the husband took it further by using the webcam to film himself inappropriately.
Afterwards, the wife did not confront the husband and went straight to the police. The husband only found out that his wife had reported him when the police arrived to question and arrest him. The husband received a three year community service sentence and a restraining order to avoid any contact with children under the age of 18.
The wife indicated that she did the right thing and regrets that her now divorced ex-husband did not receive a more strict punishment. It’s good to see that the public is becoming more conscious about online child predators and also different methods of entrapping them, even if it is within the family.
