Amazon improves Kindle battery life and adds PDF support
Just in time for the holidays, Amazon has announced that it has increased the battery life of the Kindle and also added native support for PDF files.
Amazon’s popular Kindle e-reader is getting two improvements just in time for the holiday shopping season as it goes up against the new readers from Barnes & Noble and Sony.
According to the statement from Amazon, the battery life has been increased by 85 percent, meaning you can leave the wireless connection on without recharging for seven days. The stand by mode battery life remains at two weeks.
The built-in native PDF reader is a welcome addition as it means users will no longer need to convert documents before they access the files. This should also open up reading of more books to users as there are numerous free books and e-books out there in the popular format.
These updates are effective immediately on all new purchases.
