Foursquare checks in on Facebook
Now users of the hit location-based game Foursquare for the iPhone and Android can check in on Facebook. Will this help Foursquare gain a whole new audience or just add more spam to people News Feed?
With Foursquare, users can check in at locations, unlock achievements and keep up with where their friends are all at the same time. The service is the first location-based service to take off over the last year and has developed quite a dedicated following.
Until now, users could only check in using the service and share their updates with Twitter friends. Now users can keep their Facebook friends up to speed on where they are and their latest in-game achievements as well.
While application-generated updates can be annoying on Facebook, the messages from Foursquare also tell you where a friend is and occasionally when they unlock an achievement. This should cut down on the News Feed clutter, but what do you think of these kinds of applications?
