Verizon preps its network for the iPhone

Verizon preps its network for the iPhoneIt seems Verizon doesn’t want to have any worries when the iPhone comes to its network. Say what?

Apparently Verizon is prepping its network to handle the extra traffic iPhone users would bring with them. The only problem with this is that no one has actually said Verizon is getting the iPhone.

Users are clearly unhappy with AT&T network, even going so far as to hold what is being called Operation: Chokehold. So what better way to send a subtle message to Apple to let them have the phone than for Verizon to upgrade its network?  ”We have put things in place already,” Verizon Wireless Chief Technology Officer Anthony Melone tells Bloomberg BusinessWeek. He went on to say, “We are prepared to support that traffic.”

Will it work?  Who knows.  The current Apple/AT&T agreement ends in 2010, and many have speculated the iPhone may move to Verizon, so only time will tell if this move will succeed.  If nothing else, at least Verizon customers will get an upgraded network.

And they keep bashing the iPhone in their ads? I don’t think so, they are better off with their Droid that does

V bashes the coverage, not the phone (whistles)

Why in the world would Apple design a iPhone with a CDMA radio for the short time Verizon will still be using that technology? That would be a seriously dumb move as the phone would be essentially obsolete at launch.

Besides, there is NO confirmed evidence that ATT’s exclusive runs out in 2010. Lots of conjecture but no documentation.
