New Year, New Google – added Caffeine
As we prepare to enter 2010, Google is preparing to unleash its new version of Google on the world. Like a coffee addict after a joyful visit to Starbucks, Google is about to get a Caffeine boost.
Google’s Caffeine update was first revealed back in August, when the Web giant began testing the new engine. Now, after four months of fine-tuning, it’s ready to be rolled out across the entire Web. In fact, according to TechCrunch, it may already have been.
Have you noticed a change to Google Search in the last week? Probably not, because Caffeine is an under-the-hood update that only affects the way search results are indexed and ranked rather than anything visual. Google has recently changed its homepage ever so slightly, but that’s a different effort altogether.
News, information and social media results are set to be boosted by Caffeine, with this all being part of the large effort to make real-time search a reality.
