Apple predicting it will sell 10 million Tablet computers in 2010
It seems that at least some people in Apple feel so free to discuss the long rumored tablet, possibly called the iSlate, that they feel they can predict the unconfirmed device will sell 10 million units in its first year of production.
There is no doubt that the land of Apple rumors is an odd and peculiar place, but even we are left scratching out heads over this one. You may want to draw out a chart to follow this one.
Bloombergs is reporting that former Google Inc. Greater China president Lee Kai-fu wrote on his personal blog (it’s in Chinese) that he spoke with a friend at Apple that is familiar with the coming Apple Tablet. According to this unnamed source, not only is the device real, and will be revealed in January as many suspect, but that the company is expecting to sell a stunning 10 million of them in its first year.
Mr. Lee also wrote that the device will feature a 10.1-inch multi-touch screen, which many have suspected for ages now, and will have three-dimensional graphics. Also not surprising is that he says it will look like a large iPhone.
What is surprising is that he mentions a price “under $1,000″. We have heard rumors of $700 to $800, and while he did say “under”, that definitely sounds like it is closer to $1,000 than it is further from it. So, in a currently down economy, Apple is hoping to sell ten million units of a brand new technology in a price range that may be close to $1,000? That seems like a bit of “pie-in-the-sky” dreaming to us.
Admittedly not one bit of this info is confirmed in any way as of yet. This report in particular is from an unnamed source, being written up in Chinese and then being translated and summarized by up to two more parties. Who knows what is real and fake in this whole guessing game around this device. At this point I want the announcement to happen so we can just all stop talking about it.

And having the audacity to drop the price $200 bucks a couple of months after the first version came out was like he had nailed their significant other and put it on the net.
I’m hoping Apple does come out with a jaw dropping iSlate. Despite all the strides in the last few years, browsing on any phone is a comparably poor experience.
