Netflix officially coming to the Nintendo Wii
After months of rumors, it looks like the Nintendo Wii will finally be getting Netflix Wach Instantly service.
Rumors started spreading last October that the Nintendo Wii would be receiving Netflix streaming service in the wake of Sony Playstation 3 getting it. The New York Times is reporting that the confirmation is due some time today from both companies, and that the service, like its Sony counterpart, will require the user to put a special disc in the system any time they wish to use the service.
Unlike the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the Wii is not capable of high definition streaming, which is leading to some speculation that an HD Wii may be coming in the near future. This rumor has been circulating for some time now, and has been denied by Nintendo each time it comes up. It seems doubtful that Nintendo is going to change its product midstream just for a third-party application, but you never know what decisions will be made down the road.
