Analyst claims iPhone with improved camera may be out by June
An analyst for Goldman Sachs Group Inc. is predicting that an iPhone with an improved camera may be out by June of this year. In other news, the Earth may continue to rotate, and the Sun may also rise in the East.
According to Bloombergs, Robert Chen, an analyst with Goldman Sachs Group Inc., has issued a statement that he feels the popular Apple iPhone product will receive an update in June of this year. “Apple’s going to put a lot of innovation, not just on the hardware, but also on the software of the new iPhone,” said Mr. Chen. ”The handset will feature a new plastic casing similar to that used for Apple’s touch-panel Magic Mouse released last year.”
Mr. Chen also predicted that the phone may go into production in April for release in June or July, and will probably feature an updated version of the iPhone operating system (OS).
Essentially Mr. Chen has predicted the iPhone, the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3G S. Lets take a look at the release history for the first three versions of the phone:
- iPhone: June 29, 2007
- iPhone 3G: July 11, 2008
- iPhone 3G S: June 19, 2009
So, to say that predicting a new iPhone will come out, with an improved camera and a new version of the OS, something each version has done, will come out in June or July is also like saying the Sun will come out tomorrow.
Each summer there is also inevitably an analyst that will come out and say that Apple will have an update to the iPods in September, something the company has done for several years now. Predicting iPhone and iPod events is like shooting fish in a barrel when it comes to Apple, so why don’t they predict something hard hitting like specific details of the iSlate/Apple Tablet? Well, because they really don’t know any more than you or I do when it comes to that product.
Yes, there will be a new iPhone in June or July, and no one even had to pay me a huge analyst salary to tell you that.
