Rumor: Apple Tablet to be sold via Verizon

Rumor: Apple Tablet to be sold via VerizonWith only a week to go to the possible debut of the long-rumored Apple Tablet, a new rumor has entered into the mix that could change things quite a bit for the device.

TheStreet is reporting that it has learned that Qualcomm is including a chip in the Apple Tablet, which means that the device will function in some way with Verizon.  This rumor has been circulating since last July, but this is the first time there has been anything close to resembling proof of such a deal existing.

The report goes on to say that the tablet will sell for $800 through Apple, but will be $600 through Verizon with a standard two-year contract subsidy.

Of course none of this will be close to being confirmed until next weeks Apple press event where we will learn if this tablet even truly exists.

if it’s sold through verizon I won’t purchase one. No sense in moving from AT&T with the rest of the lemmings to Verizon who charges more, requires more of a deposit and whose network will be overloaded and taxed if the iPhone does go CDMA, plus the tablet…people will be locked into a new 2 year contract with a failing network. Oh well.

AT&T & Verizon should both get the tablet, that way current AT&T users can simply add it into their existing plans and not be forced to take on yet another expense in this economy that’s simply not warranted.
