Web analytics company comScore wants $10,000 a year for better reporting
It appears that if you want comScore to more accurately report your traffic, it’s going to cost you $10,000 a year.
Web traffic reporting company comScore has announced that it will finally do actual on-site traffic reporting according All Things D. Web publishers have said for years that comScore was under reporting traffic due to its insistence on measuring only a few users and extrapolating that out to a broader portion of the Web. Now the company will add counters to a site, which will be free to people who already pay for the company’s more detailed reporting, but all other potential users will have to pay $10,000 a year for the service.
Sites that aren’t paying for the service will continue to be measured in by the old system, but those that choose to pay will be measured using a hybrid of both the new system and the old one. Considering that many advertisers use comScore to determine which sites to advertise with, this could become vitally important for larger publishers.
