McGraw-Hill CEO shunned by Apple after iPad leak
Apparently no one told McGraw-Hill CEO Terry McGraw just how much Steve Jobs hates leaks. In response, McGraw was absent during the iPad’s presentation and Jobs could be considering wings for leak-protection in the next version.
All naming jokes aside, the move by Terry McGraw to announce the iPad on national television rang with the giddiness of a schoolgirl more than a veteran CEO. It’s natural for him to be excited with books coming back into vogue as the object of the e-book wars.
However, if McGraw wants to play with the biggest and baddest technology companies on the planet, he’s going to have to reign in that enthusiasm- at least on television. He can sit at home with his bookish friends and gossip about the latest innovations in e-books, but not when he’s in the national spotlight.
As of yet there’s no word on whether this move will affect whether McGraw-Hill’s content will be stripped from the iPad at release, but I’m sure that being axed from sharing the stage with Jobs smarted. It would be hard to envision an e-book reader without McGraw-Hill and maybe that’s the point.
While the leak may have made McGraw unpopular with Jobs, Apple’s entry into the book market has inextricably linked the two companies together. So what’s the worst that can possibly happen?
Well, the fact is that Apple executives make the call about which companies it works with prior to launch and which ones it doesn’t. That doesn’t mean that McGraw-Hill will be cut out of the coolness loop with Apple, but it certainly could be.

“wings for leak-protection”
Love it!
I’m guessing Apple won’t lock MG-H out this time around but will put in strong monetary compensation clauses in future NDAs.
