CEO of Sun Microsystems Tweets his resignation
In this modern age of social media, how does a CEO of a major corporation let the world know he is resigning? He tells the public via his Twitter account, of course.
According to The New York Times, late last night Jonathan Schwartz, CEO of Sun Microsystems, let the world know that he was resigning from Sun Microsystems via his Twitter account. Not only did he Tweet it, but he put it in the form of a Japanese Haiku poem:
Financial crisis/Stalled too many customers/CEO no more
Mr. Schwartz’s resignation does not come as a terrible surprise after the recent purchase of Sun Microsystems by Oracle. Larry Ellison, the chief executive of Oracle, made it rather clear that he felt Mr. Schwartz would resign from the company after the purchase, the only surprise was that he chose Twitter as the medium to let the word know he was doing it.
