Watch Super Bowl XLIV to see the new Google ad – Nexus One or Search?
Today is the day America comes to a complete stop as everyone huddles around their TVs to watch the Super Bowl. And that means millions of eyes ripe for selling products and brands to. The Super Bowl ads always gain attention, and this year is no exception. Especially as it looks as though Google has jumped on the bandwagon.
Google has resisted the lure of brand advertising until now, with Eric Schmidt even stating it’s “the last bastion of unaccountable spending in corporate America.” And yet all the signs point towards Google joining the party for Super Bowl 44 today.
John Battelle started the story, claiming Google will be running one of its Search Stories ads during the Super Bowl. This led Schmidt to tweet, “Can’t wait to watch the Superbowl tomorrow. Be sure to watch the ads in the 3rd quarter (someone said “Hell has indeed frozen over.”)
But it may not be an ad for Google Search, with TechCrunch suggesting a Nexus One ad instead. Either way, Google doesn’t appear on the official list of Super Bowl advertisers, so it could all be nonsense.
