Apple begins countdown to 10 billion songs downloaded through iTunesFancy winning a $10,000 iTunes gift card? Then all you have to do is be the person to download the 10 billionth song through the music service. The odds are obviously stacked against you but hey, it’s worth a shot.

Apple has had a fantastic last decade. The iPod and iPhone have led the way in PMPs and smartphones respectively. And the number of fanboys and girls grows with every public appearance by Steve Jobs. ITunes began in 2003 and hit the five billion milestone in June 2008, meaning downloads have taken off in the 20 months since then. MAC.BLORGE has crunched the numbers in greater detail but I’m too busy eyeing up that iTunes spending spree.
