Amazon releases Kindle app for BlackBerry phonesAmazon is continuing its efforts to make sure that you can buy its e-books no matter what device you want to use with the launch of its new application for BlackBerry phones.

Since the launch of the Amazon Kindle e-reader, Amazon has also been working to make sure that its e-books can be purchased and read on other devices. Thus far it has released a desktop reader for Windows computers, an app for the iPhone & iPod Touch and now it is also coming to the popular line of BlackBerry phones.

The new app for the devices from Research In Motion (RIM) will sync your reading between devices so you can start a book on your desktop, and pick up in the exact same spot on your BlackBerry.  You can also purchase books directly from your phone if you find yourself in need of a new book while on the go.

So far the app works with the following models:

  • Bold 9000
  • Bold 9700
  • Curve 8520
  • Curve 8900
  • Storm 9530
  • Storm 9550
  • Tour 9630

The app is free, but the books will of course cost you.
