New Digg 2.0 unveiled at SXSWi
Digg has remained pretty much static over the last few years. Sure, there have been a few changes – most of which have improved the site – but a complete overhaul is probably well overdue. And that is exactly what is about to happen, with CEO Jay Adelson having unveiled (at least partly) the new Digg 2.0 at SXSWi 2010.
According to Mashable, Adelson announced the new Digg during the ‘Bigg Digg Shindigg’ on Saturday night. The new look Digg site isn’t yet available to use or even preview, but an alpha is promised in a few weeks time, with anyone able to sign up for it at Digg.com/new.
So what’s changing?
Everything, basically. The interface is being refreshed into a cleaner, more user-friendly version. There will be a lot more personalization options. Each keyword will now be it’s own category. There will be no need to sign in to Digg something. And submitting a new story will now be possible with just one click. This last feature is seen as a way of increasing the current rate of submissions from 20,000 a day to millions a day.
Adelson reveals a lot more of what’s coming in an interview with Mashable.
