Ben Folds uses Chatroulette during gig
If you’ve yet to try out Chatroulette – which couples random strangers for a live video chat – then this latest turn of events could be enough to convince you to finally do so. Especially if you’re a Ben Folds fan.
Chatroulette is great in its basic form, but has been made even greater by some of the things people are doing with it. No, I’m not talking about the many guys who feel the need to expose themselves to anyone and everyone. Instead, I’m talking about the musicians who are using Chatroulette as a source for improvised songs.
The best is undoubtedly Merton, the improv piano player. Some have suggested Merton is Ben Folds in disguise. He isn’t, but Ben Folds has clearly taken him to his heart, performing a tribute to the guy at a recent concert.
He’s got the look down pat and he sings in a similar style, so maybe it is him after all. Either way, I think I’d be a little freaked to go on Chatroulette only to find myself being stared at by 2,000 people at a gig. Especially if I was one of ‘those’ guys.
