Apple iPad easy enough for a child to use
The Apple iPad is, by all accounts, cool, useful, and very usable. But can it not only appeal to a young child but also be simple enough for a young child to use? The answer is an unequivocal yes, and there’s even video evidence to back it up.
What happens if you hand your 2-year-old daughter your newly purchased iPad and tell her to run wild with it? Surprisingly, it doesn’t end up broken, or being used a plate to eat food off of. In fact, it gets used the way Apple intended.
Granted, this girl is iPhone-savvy, and so would know many of the gestures and button presses required to operate the iPad. But I’m still mightily impressed how quickly she picks everything up and just starts using the thing. Kids may learn fast but this wouldn’t be the case if you told a 2-year-old to use a PC or Mac. And it says much for the design of the iPad UI.
Whether it’s the cuteness or the fact that I’m still a child at heart, this is the iPad video above all others that has made me want an Apple tablet. So maybe Apple should use this as its next iPad ad.

But easy enough for a caveman?
My 2 year old can do those same things with my BlackBerry Storm or my wife’s Storm2. So this is nothing special to an Apple device. Touch interfaces are EASY for a child to learn to use.
