Wikipedia redesign has editors in mind
Wikipedia has gone through a major redesign, with cosmetic and actual changes to the site. But the majority are intended to make the job of editing pages easier. Which is, after all, a must if Wikipedia is to flourish.
Wikipedia is massively popular and massively useful, but like everything else on the Web it needs to evolve or die. This is especially true for Wikipedia, which requires a dedicated team of editors to keep the site up-to-date and accurate (well, mostly). Unfortunately, Wikipedia is having some trouble holding on to its unpaid volunteer editors.
Which is why most of the redesign and new features are geared towards making the editing process easier. The editing toolbar has been improved to make everything a lot more intuitive, while links and tables have also been made easier to create. Search suggestions have also been improved, and even the logo has been given a makeover.
None of these changes actually address the big issues Wikipedia still faces. Namely, curbing vandalism and keeping enough editors on board to maintain the site’s integrity. Still, it’s a start, I guess.
