Google Chrome adds desktop notifications

Google Chrome adds desktop notificationsNo longer will you have to have your browser on the screen to know when certain sites need to notify you of an action thanks to a new addition to Google’s Chrome browser.

While there have been a few extensions for the Google Chrome browser that utilize the ability to have a notification pop-up on your desktop to alert you of new messages or other actions, Google is now opening this up to all third-party extensions.  According to the Chromium blog, this is being done to give developers more space to work with as opposed to the few pixels they get in the toolbar, and also to allow users to have Chrome minimized, but still know what is going on in their browser windows.

The feature is available immediately and developers can find all of the information they need by visiting the blog post listed above.
