Clickjacking attack spreading through Facebook “Like” system
Once again spammers are up to their old tricks on Facebook by trying to get you to spread a link that will make it look like you have liked a page or added it to your interests.
Security firm Sophos is reporting that a new “cickjacking attack is under way on Facebook. This means that you see a story in a friend’s feed that intrigues you, you click on it, you are taken to a third-party page and there you are instructed to click a link to continue to the story. In actuality, what is happening is that clicking anywhere on that page will load a virus onto your system, and it will also add a “like” to your feed to help spread the Troj/Iframe-ET virus to others.
The messages currently being used by the spammers include:
- “LOL This girl gets OWNED after a POLICE OFFICER reads her STATUS MESSAGE.”
- “This man takes a picture of himself EVERYDAY for 8 YEARS!!”
- “The Prom Dress That Got This Girl Suspended From School.”
- “This Girl Has An Interesting Way Of Eating A Banana, Check It Out!”
If you feel you have been hit by this, run your anti-virus software to get rid of it. Also, go through your newsfeed and remove any links to it to stop it from spreading, and also check your interests page as it can show up there also.
Luckily this is a fairly low level virus, but it is still one you need to clean off of your system.
