Nokia mocks Apple over iPhone 4 issues
It’s always good to see one company mocking another for a mistake. Especially when it’s Apple on the receiving end.
Apple, normally so careful to release near-perfect, bug-free hardware, appears to have messed up with the iPhone 4. Messed up in the most basic manner too, with users daring to hold their handset in a particular way losing reception as they interfere with the internal antenna.
This led Steve Jobs to infer that people are holding the iPhone the wrong way, imploring an annoyed customer to “just avoid holding it in that way.” Pretty lame advice from the CEO of a company which has messed up big time.
Rival handset manufacturer Nokia has now had a dig at Apple for the iPhone issues, with a post on the Official Nokia Blog discussing various techniques for how to grip your mobile phone. Nokia states:
We’ve found any of the four grips mentioned above to be both comfortable and as you can see, offer no signal degradation whatsoever.
Providing a wide range of methods and grips for people to hold their phones, without interfering with the antennae, has been an essential feature of every device Nokia has built.
Of course, feel free to ignore all of the above because realistically, you’re free to hold your Nokia device any way you like. And you won’t suffer any signal loss. Cool, huh?
Miaow. Those are some catty remarks right there. But they’re funny, and wholly justified given the situation. However, Nokia should beware that if it makes a hardware cock-up in the future Apple us likely to take sweet revenge.
