Rumor: Hulu Plus to get a price cut

October 22, 2010

Rumor: Hulu Plus to get a price cut Hulu Plus is Hulu’s new subscription service for streaming TV shows to various hardware platforms. The service is said to compete with other streaming video services such as Netflix. However, according to a report Hulu may be planning a hefty price cut to its plan.

Hulu Plus currently costs $9.95 per month and offers up its full library including many of the past seasons for popular TV shows. Shows like X-Files have the full nine seasons available over Hulu Plus for viewing.

According to All Things Digital, managers at the company are contemplating a price reduction to $4.95. This may have been triggered by consumer complaints about the service as it is still ad supported despite the subscription fee.

Also, the fact that Netflix is slightly cheaper doesn’t help the fact that the company is double dipping with revenue from ads. Most Hulu Plus subscriber will probably welcome a price reduction in exchange for watching some additional commercials.
