Falling down really doesn’t begin to cover it. Whereas we’ve all heard about the pair of Research in Motion executives so drunk and unruly they got thrown off an Air Canada flight to China, it’s just now becoming clear just how disruptive and out of control they were.
Here’s the story so far: George Campbell and Paul Wilson got drunk, got crazy, got throw off a plane and got arrested. Though they weren’t sentenced to jail time — a year of probation each — the pair have been ordered to pay $72,000 (one hopes that’s each).
Of course, both were fired by RIM, as well.
As bad as that sounds, it’s only half the story. A fresh CBC write up, quoting witnesses and court documents, details their flight into excess.
In addition to being “rowdy and abusive,” ending up face down in the aisle of the aircraft, assaulting a flight attendant and threatening to punch another, these two guys ended getting subdued and restrained by staff and passengers.
You know those plastic ties police use to handcuff people, such as rioters? Attendants applied to Campbell and Wilson’s wrists whereupon this drunken duo “chewed their way through their restraints.”
Definitely not a story they will be sharing with their grandchildren…
What’s your take?
