Apple’s iPad Mini leaks… probably
Apple has sprung a leak, or several, in fact. The latest has seen images of the new iPad Mini spring up online before Apple has even confirmed such a product exists.
Apple finally deemed the world worthy of seeing the iPhone 5 last week, and despite the fact it’s nothing but an iPhone 4 with a shiny new face, it’s already sold out in the U.S. Apple, it seems, can do no wrong in the eyes of consumers. At least those loyal to its brand. And now we have the next unveiling to look forward to… the iPad Mini.
It’s expected that Apple will officially unveil the iPad Mini, with its 7.85-inch screen, sometime in October. To do so would mean this smaller version of the iPad is already being manufactured. And according to BoloPad, not only is it being manufactured, a working model is out in the wild. This could of course be a fake, but it seems highly unlikely.
All of the various iPhone 5 rumors came together in those final few weeks so that there were no surprises left by the time Tim Cook took to the stage to announce it. And the same fate looks set to befall the iPad Mini. The images leaked online aren’t just of the shell or unfinished components, but of what looks like a final product.
We don’t actually yet know what differences there will be between the full-sized iPad and the iPad Mini, but I’m suspecting it will be almost exactly the same apart from the reduced screen size. The most important question left unanswered is about the price. Most analysts are suggesting the iPad Mini will cost between $249 and $349, which would make it more expensive than the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD.
We’ll find out for sure all of these details come October, and I’m sure the iPad Mini will prove to be a huge success. Even if it does turn out to be rather boring.
