Second Life really is another world, one where the norms and values of this world don’t seem to apply. With Linden Labs cracking down on “broadly offensive content” such as child pornography, some Second Life “residents” are now concerned that there may be a crack down on bestiality.

Mac fans and bloggers are outraged over Apple’s announcement that it has taken resources from its Mac OS X team to help finish the iPhone on time, compromising the scheduled release of the next version of Mac OS X, code named Leopard, which now won’t be out until October.

It seems that it’s not just Baby Boomers who don’t want to grow old; Generation X is just as bad. A new study from Nielsen//NetRatings reveals that more than one third of US adults (36.5%) in the US own a games console, and 15.9% own a portable game console.

In recent weeks various research companies have been issuing predictions for 2007. To be quite honest I’ve found the predictions quite tedious; very boring fare indeed. Yes, we know some people will upgrade to Vista, we know there’s going to be more viruses, more spam, etc etc. Boring, boring, boring!

Why is that the cool guy – with his itinerant job, beaten-up Dodge, and permanent scowl – always gets the girl? Isn’t this against the natural order of things? Shouldn’t us computer types, with our well-paid jobs, Honda Accords and pleasant dispositions, be the ones who make it with the ladies? Aren’t we the ones who should be spreading our seed? After all, our seed is worth spreading!

While a lot of PlayStation fans would be horrified by the concept of Sony Computer Entertainment becoming a software-only company, there a several sound commercial reasons for this change in strategy. In fact, I would go as far as to say that such a change could strengthen the PlayStation franchise.
