TorrentSpy, one of the larger Bittorrent indexing sites, lost a suit brought against it by the Motion Picture Association of America. How they lost might raise a few eyebrows, though: a judge ruled in favor of the MPAA on grounds that the defendants tampered with evidence.

Conspiracy theories and unfair rankings have left many Digg users dissatisfied with the direction the popular site is heading. A new site, Mixx, looks to offer what Digg was originally all about, without all the underhanded practices and with a more positive environment and user community.

As if working with the government in the justice ministry isn’t enough, the good people in the Dutch justice system perform their citizenly duties of…editing Wikipedia entries on the clock. The only problem with that is that the justice department doesn’t (at this time) particularly want a team of Wikipedia scholars.

Facebook is offering $85 million to the huge Chinese social networking site Zhanzuo.com. Why? Probably because Zhanzuo.com is home to over 7 million Chinese user accounts, and would be a huge stepping stone into global social networking.

10 years without a personal computer might cause any sane person to die a little inside. 10 years in prison without a personal computer and a $500,000 fine looming over that same person’s head might make them wish they could just give up the computer for 10 years.

It appears that, although it is working hard to rectify the multitude of issues with its current Vista platform, Microsoft has largely redirected its focus on preparation and development for its next platform, Windows 7. An indicator of this would be what appears to be a wishlist of changes users want to see for the next platform which surfaced recently.
