An enraged wife entrapped her pedophile husband online by posing as an underage girl. She ended up reporting her husband to the authorities after she collected evidence against him. The wife conducted a Dateline-like entrapment scheme using a chat room online.

Music piracy is evil and those who illegally download and share music with each other are the devil’s spawn. Right? Wrong. In fact, a new survey shows that those who partake of a little filesharing every now and then actually spend more on music than anyone else. So rather than chasing them down with what sometimes borders on a vengeful vendetta, the music industry should perhaps be nurturing these people and appreciating them as music lovers.

Posting a hoax about someone dying on the Internet is clearly a sick thing to do. Not only can fans and followers be tricked into believing it’s true, so also can family and friends. But there’s another bad result, which is that hackers quickly pick up on the hoax and use it to their advantage. Which is what happened with the RIP Kanye West prank which journeyed from 4Chan to email to Twitter to malware in the space of just a few hours.

Surely any measure which toughens security in airports and on flights while also speeding up congestion of people queuing is a good thing, right? Wrong, at least if we’re talking about new x-ray scanners installed in a U.K. airport. The problem is that they take a “naked” photo of each passenger, and child protection experts think this is wrong where youngsters are concerned.

There are some very basic rules for venturing online, such as installing anti-virus software and a firewall, and keeping your wits about you at all times. But anyone can fall victim to a cleverly designed piece of malware or phishing scam. And I mean anyone. Even the director of the FBI isn’t immune, though his wife seems to be.

A total of 101 people have been arrested and charged over their alleged involvement in phishing scams. The suspects, from the US and Egypt, are accused of tricking users into handing over online bank passwords which may have led to the theft of up to $2 million.

Technology can be the most amazing thing in the world, at least when it’s working as it should be. Unfortunately, it also has a tendency to go wrong, and top stop doing what you want it to at times. Solutions include buying a replacement, getting the broken gadget repaired, and threatening to shoot it with a gun. At least that’s what one guy thought was the right thing to do with his iPhone at an Apple Store when it stopped working properly.

It’s a sad fact of life that the Internet has had one major negative impact on our lives – giving fraudsters and scammers new ways to try and trick us out of money. The Nigerian scam, or 419 fraud, has been sprung via email for years, but it’s now come to social networking sites as well, particularly Facebook. In fact, it’s become such a regular occurrence that the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) has issued a warning.

Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace are now one of the most popular aspects of the Web. Though some people seem resistant to get on board with them, most of us use at least one on a regular basis, mainly because they are very addictive. In fact, they are so addictive that an alleged burglar couldn’t resist checking his Facebook page while in the middle of a robbing someone’s house.

It’s always good to hear of technology fighting back, and that’s exactly what happened this weekend when iPhone thieves got their comeuppance thanks to the Apple device. They were caught red-handed thanks to the Find My iPhone feature in MobileMe. Man, those iPhones can do everything, even catch criminals.
