Some businesses already have Vista. It will be on personal computers on sale in the next few months. It will be the last operating system that Microsoft will ever release for the personal computer.

Response to my post about the Microsoft-AMD Acer laptop scandal has underscored the disconnect between how bloggers are perceived and what they actually are. Microsoft’s recent comments about the scandal also demonstrate just how cynical the company is when dealing with bloggers.

As if one mouse wasn’t enough, Microsoft is in the process of developing software that will allow you to have multiple mouses on a single PC, known as Multipoint technology, and you’ll find that it may serve an interesting purpose.

The biggest problem with using a laptop is that generally you won’t get more than four hours from a battery before it needs to be recharged. This is can be quite a pain, since most of us work at least eight hours a day.

Despite Microsoft lodging two patents for technology related to Really Simple Syndication (RSS), the company “honestly hope(s) that (its) work brings benefit to all feed publishers, developers and users”, according to Sean Lyndersay, RSS program manager lead at Microsoft.

Microsoft and AMD have sent free Acer Ferrari 1000 and 5000 notebooks loaded with Vista to a group of high-profile bloggers.
Recipients include Brandon LeBlanc, Scott Beale, Barb Bowman, Mauricio Freitas, Mitch Denny, Zen.Heavengames and Long Zheng. (Update: the machine that Long Zheng will receive is actually a Velocity Micro Media Center PC).
