Internet regulator ICANN and ICM Registry are being sued in US District Court in Los Angeles over their handling of the recently launched .XXX domain. The case could have implications for the entire domain name system.

St. Georges, University of London is part of a consortium that is developing a mobile app to self diagnose sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). STD kits similar to pregnancy kits would be available for use by the potentially infected. The kits would also allow the user to determine which STD by using a cell phone or computer.

Although the RIAA and MPAA have stopped suing P2P users for piracy, the porn industry has decided to take on the task of ridding the Web of file swappers. To show how committed they are the purveyors of porn have set a goal to stop P2P porn piracy within 15 months. That’s a pretty tall order considering that the RIAA and MPAA failed.

The owner of a URL shortening service says the Libyan government is cracking down on companies taking advantage of its national .ly domain. The move means foreign companies are blocked from registering some new addresses, while others could be banned instantly over seemingly arbitrary content rules.
