My family must be one of the few families in Australia that does not have a GPS in in our car. I suspect this is because I’m an old fogey and we don’t tend to stray too far from the nest. However, when given the chance to review a Navman MY85XLT GPS, I was interested in finding out what the fuss was about. Here’s the really funny thing: while I struggled with the touchscreen, my five-year-old daughter had it working within minutes. I like to think that’s because my daughter uses iPads at school, and no, she does not drive.

As your computers, jumpdrives, and external hard drives reach a point where you choose to upgrade, you need a program that is going to allow you to destroy all confidential information that you may have on those drives. When I was offered a copy of Norton Internet Security 2011 to review, I was skeptical. I had not used a Norton product since the very first Norton product was introduced. Unfortunately, it seemed that Norton’ antivirus was seen as more of a challenge then a hindrance to malicious software writers so I switched to less well known antivirus products like AVG. However, this latest version of Norton surprised me.

Evernote is one of the most versatile programs that I have ever used and I have tried quite a few. The program is Web-based but can be used on Mac or Windows computers, iPads, Android phones, and BlackBerries. You can also clip items from the Web into Evernote.

Iolo’s System Mechanic has been a fixture on my computer systems for years. The program “cleans your memory, your hard drive and your registry speeding up your computer as it works.” Although I have purchased previous versions of the program, I was provided with the current version, System Mechanic 10 by iolo.
